2017 Featured Artist

Hunter Smith Band

It's not every day when the front man of a popular country/rock band is also a Super Bowl World Champion. But for Hunter Smith, it's just one of the many twists and turns that led him to the stage.

After excelling in football at the University of Notre Dame, Smith was drafted to the Indianapolis Colts. He spent 12 years playing in the NFL.

Smith felt the musical pull very early in his life. His broad musical influences include:  Keith Urban, U2, Zac Brown Band, Kenny Rogers, Coldplay, Willie Nelson, Sawyer Brown, and Alabama. Probably not something you'd expect from a kid raised in a non-instrumental, a cappella church.  He taught himself how to play the guitar and began writing his own music at a very young age.

In 2012, his dream became reality. The Hunter Smith Band released their first album, "Green." The band consists of four Indianapolis-based musicians hand-picked by Smith. Band members Justin Langebartels, Alex Reiff, Ethan Ehrstine and Kyle Whiteley all bring their own unique sound to the band.

Don't expect to put the Hunter Smith Band into one genre, or music "bucket". Part country, part rock, part pop, part alternative, ALL exceedingly entertaining and original. Expect energy, musicianship, and rootsy storytelling by lead singer, Smith.

Their sophomore album, "Story," was released in 2015 and has been embraced by independent radio and a rapidly growing loyal fan base. Look Ahead. It's the theme of this album, and a theme for Smith's life. "There's something country there, but there is nobody cooler in the pop sense than Keith Urban," he said. "That's kind of where we fall, in that genre. There's one foot in country. We're something and country."

That "something and country" is working very well, stylistically speaking. Check them out at www.HunterSmithBand.com.

The Vallures

Ladies and gentlemen who bring you sweet soul music and Motown with a twist and a shout! The Vallures are the sounds of summer 1966 at a GO-GO, they are dancin’, shakin', groovin', movin' it, you know. Old hits, rarities, and originals with a nod to sixties girl groups make you wanna Boogaloo, Shingling, Jerk, Watutsi, Mashed Potato. You just let it all hang out. The Vallures experience is uptight, all right, outta sight, and has you singin’ and dancin’ all night!

Captain Rat and Blind Rivets

Have you witnessed the spectacle of grown men singing, dancing and playing, telling jokes, transforming entire crowds into happy, dancing fun monsters?  Well, welcome to the wonderful world of CAPTAIN RAT AND THE BLIND RIVETS!

CAPTAIN RAT AND THE BLIND RIVETS puts on a high energy 50's and 60's rock'n'roll show, bursting with humor and satire.  Great American Music, and a festival of fun-fun-fun for everyone!  They have been legends since 1980 for their boffo stage show, featuring props, silly hats, funny faces, zany antics, and of course, great rock'n'roll expertly performed.

Specializing in American music of the era:  The Monkees, Elvis, Turtles, the Ventures- the band chooses the right song for each moment from a repertoire of over 400 vintage oldies, fast and slow songs from the greatest era in American popular music.

Based in Champaign, Illinois, since 1980, CAPTAIN RAT AND THE BLIND RIVETS is consistently voted best regional band.  They have brought their spectacular family-oriented show to more than a million people, in such venues as  Wrigley and Soldier Fields, Memorial Stadium, the Chicago Air and Water Show, the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, and Atlantis Paradise Island Resort and Casino in Nassau, Bahamas.

The group features five outstanding musicians:  Jeff Evans, a/k/a  “Buster B. Dordaun”, drums and vocals; Roger Prillaman, a/k/a “Todd Modern”, keyboards, trumpet and vocals; Tim Vear, a/k/a” Timmy Ray”, vocals and guitar; “Mark B. Rubel” on bass and vocals, and our latest addition Tary Powers, a/k/a “Bart Bartonia” on saxophone and vocals.   The playing is tight and always energetic- the excellent singing and harmonies shine on Beach Boys songs and on a capella numbers.  The band members move into the crowd using wireless transmitters, and even switch instruments.

But musical talent in this case is just the departure point for the creation of memorable fun, for both audience and act.  Drawing from over six sets of material, our guys blend experience, spontaneity and group chemistry to transform every show into a festival, the crowd always participating in the dancing, singing and laughter.
